Book Review: Silence (Hush, Hush, #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick

My Thoughts: 

We start the third book of the Hush, Hush saga by finding Nora waking up in a middle of a cemetery. She has no recollection of the past 3 months or so. She then learns that she’s been kidnapped last June but she couldn’t remember anything starting from the month of April–which is a bit odd. Why would she not recall anything before her disappearance even happened?

As Nora struggles to get her life back to normal, she starts to get involved with Nephilims and fallen angels again. She has no idea what they actually are due to her “amnesia” but later on the story, she gets fragments of informations about them and slowly puts the pieces together.

Oh, and did I mention that Nora’s mother is dating Hank Millar? What a shocker! (kidding, not really). And for some reasons, she is very  in love with him.

At this point, I could say that Silence is way better than Hush, Hush and Crescendo. Character development wise, I personally think that Nora has been much stronger, determined and unshakable now. As for Patch, I love how he’s very sure of his choices now. Also, I think that this is the first time he’s been utterly honest and romantic, but still got the bad-boy vibe going on. Another character that I really enjoyed seeing on this book was Scott. I love the whole 180 turn on his character.

Along the character development is of course the world building. On this book, we learn more to the Nephilim / fallen angel / archangel world. I wouldn’t get into details for I don’t want to spoil them for you.

Silence’s pacing was a tad slow at the beginning. It could be a little frustrating to the other readers because Nora couldn’t remember some of the things that we readers could remember….And I know what you’re thinking right now. You’re probably thinking that this book will be like a retelling of the whole things that has happened on the previous books– meeting Patch, knowing his real identity, the connection between them two, and Nora’s family. Well, let me just tell you that it’s not. Writing and publishing this book would be pointless if we’re just going to go back to square one, right?

Yet again, the book ends on a cliffhanger. It’s not as tense as Crescendo’s ending but it’s still a something to get you excited for the last book, Finale. I’ve got an idea where the story’s going and I love it. I’m already on Chapter 9 of Finale as I’m writing this and I’m very glad to say that the plot just gets more and more interesting.

Overall, I liked Silence the best. It was entertaining for the most part.
